Core Valiance

Too many core values hang on company walls, but don’t inspire people to move mountains and make magic . . . until our core values workshop, that is.

If your company values and culture do not move your people, they have no life.

Most companies gather a committee of employees together and engage in an intellectual exercise to capture what everyone “thinks” the core values and purpose of the organization should be. The results sound nice and look great in a picture frame, but fail to leverage the potential of galvanizing the workforce. Simply put, they are weak values.

You might assume that “weak” values just sit there (the worst they can do is fail to inspire your people, right?). But weak company values will trickle down and disempower your culture.

Harvard Business Review cites a study where “only 23 percent of US employees strongly agree that they can apply their organization’s values to their work every day, and only 27 percent ‘believe in’ their organization’s values.”1 That lack of belief in the company’s core values breeds cynicism, resentment, and indifference, which often leads to disengagement, poor performance, and higher turnover. Yikes.

“Your core values work is brilliant.”

To empower your people, you need authentic company values.

True core values

  • both excite and make people nervous,

  • declare what you aspire to, but cannot easily achieve,

  • require incredible intentionality,

  • are failed at frequently, and

  • that failure makes your heart hurt!

Your company has its own brilliance—something that makes it unique and wields the potential to empower your people to wake up to their passion for life. When your company can access that magic, you can extend that powerful invitation to your customers and other stakeholders to move mountains together.

But accessing the magic isn’t easy for most organizations, and as a result, their core values are expressed from an intellectual headspace, rather than crafting values that are contagious by pulling them from the very marrow of your peoples’ bones.

That’s where we come in.

Core Values + Brilliance = Core Valiance

valiance (v.): bravery or determination, especially when things are difficult, or when the situation gives no cause for hope:2 The hero’s adventures possess an inspiring and determined valiance

Support team

Capture the heroic soul of your organization through our core values workshop.

In this workshop, we guide your most influential people throughout the company in identifying their values from deep within themselves. We then help analyze in real time the themes across those values. We explore those themes even further by leading participants through a storytelling exercise to surface each person’s hero’s journey around that value. That emotional and provocative language becomes the clay we use to help your organization mold and shape their authentic company values. The final deliverable is both poetic and practical for catalyzing the culture.

Who is this workshop for?

Core Valiance is a guided, in-person workshop that gathers together a group of the most influential individuals at your company—those who bring something intangible but imperative to the culture. These people can be employees, leaders, stakeholders; whomever ignites the engine of your organization and makes things move in the right direction.

This day-and-a-half gathering is held off-site and away from the office to ensure complete focus on the task at hand. The ideal group size ranges between 5 and 15 people.
